Simple Meditation Techniques ...

With a solid foundation in place, you're now ready to explore the different ways you can bring meditation into your life. Meditation isn’t a one-size-fits-all practice; there are many paths to choose from, each offering unique benefits and experiences. To help you find your footing, I’ve curated a selection of five simple techniques that are perfect for beginners.

In this section, you’ll find clear and concise guides on these practices: Basic Breathing Meditation, Mindful Eating Meditation, Body Scan Meditation, Mantra Meditation, and Focus Meditation. These techniques are designed to be accessible and easy to incorporate into your daily routine. Take a moment to read through each one and consider which resonates most with you. Remember, there’s no right or wrong choice—just the one that feels right for you.

Now that you’ve familiarised yourself with the different meditation techniques, it’s time to put them into practice. I’ve created a series of 10-minute guided meditation videos, each tailored to one of the techniques you’ve just learned about. These sessions will gently guide you through Basic Breathing Meditation, Mindful Eating Meditation, Body Scan Meditation, Mantra Meditation, and Focus Meditation.

As a special treat, I’ve also included a bonus meditation—‘Floating on a Cloud’—a calming visualisation that will transport you to a place of deep relaxation.

I encourage you to try each of these guided meditations at your own pace. You might find that one resonates more with you, or perhaps you’ll enjoy a mix depending on your mood and needs. The key is to explore and discover what feels best for you.

The breath is always with you. When you practice meditation and breathing, you gain a tool you can use whenever you need to relax, quiet and clear the mind.

We can tune in to our bodies, become aware of the sensations, emotions, and thoughts, listening to our internal sense of what our bodies need to be nourished.

Checking in will develop a mindful awareness of your bodily sensations and relieve tension, helping us take better care of our bodies and make healthier decisions.

Give the mind an object to focus on, making it easier to steady the mind. Meanings soothe the senses, bring deeper presence and awareness, and promote healing.

As the eyes are open for this practice, it’s a good option if you have a wandering mind. By concentrating on a physical object, it can be easier to stay focused.

This relaxing guided meditation is a calming visualisation that will guide you to imagine floating on a cloud, just like you were a kid again.

Whether you’re meditating for two minutes or ten, a timer helps you stay focused and prevents you from checking the clock. It’s a small step that allows you to fully immerse yourself in the practice without distraction. You can use your phone, a meditation app, or even a gentle kitchen timer—whatever works best for you.
