10 Steps to Achieving Total Self-Love

I remember a time when I looked around at other beautiful, successful women and wondered: How do they do it? How do they manage to feel so good? I wanted that feeling for myself, and I wanted to share it with others. So, I began a journey of discovery — tapping into my creative energy and curating habits that nurture self-love. Through social media, my work, and even starting a YouTube channel, I’ve dedicated myself to helping women create healthy habits that build self-care and self-love.

Even if you don’t feel particularly powerful today, take a moment to reflect on how far you’ve come. Life is no small feat — you’ve faced challenges and grown through them, and you’re here, right now, alive and powerful beyond your own understanding. Self-love is not about perfection; it’s about patience, kindness, and gratitude for yourself.

I’ve always been in awe of my younger sister. No matter what’s happening in her life, she somehow always looks beautiful. She works full-time, is an amazing mum, and still manages to keep her life so together. While I’m frantically trying to remember what’s next on my to-do list, or whether I replied to that client’s text, she’s balancing everything with such grace.

What I’ve learned is that self-love isn’t about having it all together; it’s about nurturing yourself in small, meaningful ways. It’s about giving yourself permission to grow, to rest, and to celebrate the person you are today. Now, I’d love to share the Top 10 Steps for Creating Self-Love Habits — practices that have not only helped me feel more grounded and joyful but can also inspire you to prioritise your own self-care — simple practices that are transformative, uplifting, and easy to integrate into daily life.

1. Start Your Day with Gratitude

Each morning, list three things you’re grateful for. This practice shifts your mindset and sets a positive tone for the day.

2. Nourish Your Body

Fuel your body with nourishing, wholesome foods. Treat meals as an act of self-care, not just a necessity.

3. Move with Joy

Find a form of movement that makes you happy, whether it’s yoga, dancing, or a walk in nature. Movement isn’t just about fitness; it’s about connecting with your body.

4. Speak Kindly to Yourself

Replace negative self-talk with affirmations. Be your own cheerleader — the way you speak to yourself matters.

5. Set Boundaries

Protect your energy by saying no to things that drain you. Saying no is a powerful act of self-love.

6. Create a Nurturing Space

Make your environment a sanctuary. Light a candle, tidy your space, or add comforting touches that make you feel calm and secure.

7. Practice Mindful Breathing

Pause throughout the day to take deep, intentional breaths. It’s a simple yet powerful way to reconnect with yourself.

8. Embrace Rest and Relaxation

Prioritise rest, whether it’s through a nap, meditation, or simply taking time to do nothing. Your worth is not tied to your productivity.

9. Celebrate Small Wins

Acknowledge and celebrate your achievements, no matter how small. Progress deserves recognition.

10. Engage in Creative Expression

Explore activities that spark joy and creativity, whether it’s painting, journaling, gardening, or cooking. Creativity nurtures the soul.

Self-love isn’t a destination; it’s a lifelong practice. Be patient with yourself as you embark on this journey. You are worthy of the same love and care you give to others.

In the words of Rupi Kaur:"How you love yourself is how you teach others to love you."

Remember, self-love isn’t selfish — it’s essential. You’re not just surviving; you’re thriving, one step at a time.

Here’s to creating a life rooted in love and joy. 🌸
